Imagine being a prophet of God and still missing what a donkey could see.
In the Book of Numbers, Balaam was traveling to meet King Balak. As he journeyed, an angel of the Lord stood in the road with a drawn sword.
Balaam saw nothing.
His donkey saw everything.
Three times the animal stopped to avoid the angel. Three times Balaam became angry and beat it.
Then something unbelievable happened.
God opened the donkey’s mouth.
The animal asked, “What have I done to make you beat me these three times?”
Only then were Balaam’s eyes opened, and he finally saw the angel that had been blocking his path all along.
This story isn’t just about a talking donkey.
It’s about how people can become so focused on money, ambition, pride, or their own plans that they miss the warnings right in front of them.
Sometimes the voice trying to save us comes from the most unexpected place.
The real question is not whether a donkey spoke.
The real question is:
If God sent you a warning through someone you least expected, would you listen?
