If We Shouldn’t Pray to Our Ancestors… Why Pray to the Saints?

Many Christians reject praying to their ancestors, believing that help and protection should be sought from God alone.

Yet some also pray to the saints, asking for their intercession.

This raises an interesting question…

If speaking to departed ancestors is considered unbiblical…

Why is speaking to departed saints viewed differently?

Is it because the saints were recognized for their faith while on earth?

If so, what about those who lived righteous lives but were never mentioned in the Bible or recorded by history?

Does the Bible make a distinction between asking departed saints to intercede and calling on one’s departed ancestors?

Or does it teach believers to direct every prayer to God through Christ alone?

Where does Scripture clearly draw the line?
