It sounds like something from one of the story books.
But it’s in the Bible.
📖 2 Kings 2:23-25 records one of the strangest and most controversial stories in Scripture.
A group approaches the prophet Elisha and begins mocking him.
“Baldhead! Baldhead!”
Elisha turns, pronounces a curse in the name of the Lord…
And suddenly, two bears emerge from the woods.
The result?
Forty-two of the mockers are mauled.
That’s the part most people remember.
But the real mystery is this:
Why would such a severe judgment follow what appears to be simple name-calling?
Were these actually children?
Teenagers?
A violent mob?
Was Elisha reacting out of personal anger…
Or was something much bigger happening behind the scenes?
For centuries, readers have debated what really happened that day.
🤔 Was this one of the Bible’s harshest overreactions…
Or one of its most misunderstood stories?
