A Family Experience From 1974 That Still Leaves Me Thinking…

In 1974, tragedy struck our family.

First, we lost my elder sister, Tersiana, a young woman whose dream was to become a Reverend Sister. Her beauty was matched only by her kindness. Her death left a wound that words could not heal.

Not long afterward, another heartbreaking loss followed.

My lovely sister, Natalia, also died.

The pain was overwhelming.

My father was a catechist.

My mother was deeply devoted to the Church.

During the day, they tried to remain strong. They encouraged others to trust in God. They carried on with courage so no one would see how deeply they were hurting.

But every night, behind the closed door of their room, they wept until there were no more tears.

No one knew.

Then something happened that changed everything.

One evening, around 7 p.m., my uncle was returning from the market, pushing his bicycle along the road toward our house.

Suddenly, he heard a familiar voice.

“Dede!”

He turned around.

Standing there was Natalia.

Startled, he asked, “Natalia… what are you doing here?”

She calmly replied,

“Don’t be afraid. I came to give you a message for my father and mother.”

She asked what he had bought from the market. He replied that he had bought nothing and had only gone there to pass the time.

Then she said words my family never forgot:

“Tell my father and my mother to stop crying. Their tears disturb me. I am in a good place. I am well. I am comfortable. They will only continue to wound themselves if they keep crying.”

My uncle promised he would deliver the message.

He took a few steps forward.

When he looked back…

She was gone.

When he arrived home, he told the family exactly what had happened.

From that day onward, my parents found a peace they had not known since the deaths of their daughters.

Whether someone believes this account or not is entirely their choice.

I am simply sharing what my family experienced.

It reminds me that there are mysteries in this life that no human being has completely explained.

Many people speak with certainty about what happens after death.

The truth is, none of us has complete knowledge.

Sometimes life presents experiences that leave us with more questions than answers.

Have you or someone in your family ever experienced something that challenged your understanding of life, death, or the unseen?

Let’s discuss respectfully.
