Most of us read Genesis 1:1 and move on:
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
But what if the very first word of the Bible was hiding something much deeper?
The Hebrew word for “In the beginning” is Bereshit (בְּרֵאשִׁית).
Some Bible students have looked at the ancient pictographic meanings of its letters and noticed a fascinating pattern:
- Beit = House
- Resh = Head
- Aleph = God / Strength
- Shin = Destroy
- Yod = Hand
- Tav = Mark / Covenant / Cross
When these meanings are arranged together, some see a remarkable picture:
A divine figure, marked by suffering, giving Himself through His own hands to establish a covenant from the very beginning.
Coincidence?
Or was the story of redemption already embedded in the opening word of Scripture?
If God already knew humanity would fall, did He also reveal His rescue plan before the first chapter had even begun?
Was Jesus hidden in Genesis long before He appeared in Bethlehem?
Whether you see this as a profound prophetic pattern or simply an interesting observation, it raises a powerful question:
Did God place the message of the Cross at the very doorway of the Bible, so that the end of the story was already present in the beginning?
